Many vaccinations can be combined to avoid receiving multiple injections. The MMR has been combined for many years here in the US and due to our diligence with vaccinating children ALL cases of measles reported in this country are imported from foreign countries that sub vaccinate. This is huge considering the endemic incidence of the disease before the vaccine.

Mumps is still occasionally reported and usually it is in people who were not vaccinated properly as children or who require a booster.

The CDC website has some really good information on vaccine preventable diseases.

MMR stands for Measles, Mumps and Rubella. It is a short form, for convenience.

MMR is just an abbreviation for measles, mumps, rubella. It is good that the immunization is combined, because, otherwise, you'd have to get three shots.
