my son had swelling on his right side approximately where his appindix is located. It was painful so he went to the ER.The Dr.told him it was an enlarged lymph node,to take ibuprofin, hot packs, and return if not better. The swelling has now expanded upwards toward his hip, about half the size of a tennis ball.He has no insurance and our ER sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.I am trying to find out some information and if there is anything that can we can do to releive this problem.
Thank you,
Geri

lymph nodes swell when youre unwell or your body is fighting an infection or such did the doc say why its swollen?usually they do go down after a while you find them in both groins in the armpits and under the jaw line where your glands are they can get sore when swollen but only give it a few more days he may need antibiotics if the body oviously cant clear the problem itself im no doctor but i do have to check my lymphnodes because of a blood condition so i know they can swell in this way ok hun

Dear Sir,
With due apologies I will advise you this is an acedemic question/siuation. Take him to nearest teaching hospital & I tell you tha your son will be back home free from his problem/s.
At the same time the surgeons will assist you more than this Q/A session on the web.
Don't delay take him to the right place & persons.

well go to webmd.com. that usually has a lot of helpful information. sounds to me it could either be his appendix or maybe a hernia. hope he gets better!
