Had my ears checked and could find nothing. A year ago when I got two bad episodes and was in bed for a week with the room spinning the doctor said I had Labrinthytis and there is no cure. Over this last year I still have a constand problem when I lay down and get up or move to fast. It is awful what can I do?
Any websites to find out what could be causing this?

I saw a show on Discovery channel years ago that explained that cold medications actually slow your cold down and you have it longer. I think I have found this to be true, could be all in my head, though, since I saw this show. I hate taking medication, I think our minds are much more powerful than we give them credit for. I am not a crazy person that doesn't believe in any medicine, don't get me wrong. But I do believe we are an over-medicated group of people that don't give our bodies the chance to heal themselves for simple things. So many people around me pop pills, (and have their kids popping pills), for every little sniffle or any time they cough. Does anyone have any knowledge on this?(About the cold stuff, the rest was just my opinion)

I know I can give it to someone by kissing them when I have an outbreak, but if I don´t have it anymore (just healed) can it still be contagious? Can I kiss normally, or give oral sex???

Ok, this is a very odd situation so let me explain:
I am in my late 20's, and my right foot has been slightly swollen for about 8 years now. At first I didn't get it checked out because I was in school and couldn't afford health insurance (don't you love our country's priorities?). Over the last couple of years I have been to several different types of doctors and noone seems to know what is wrong. Here are some of the things I've heard:
My regular dr did blood work and bone scan....nothing.
A podiatrist did an x-ray....nothing.
A vascular surgeon examined it and said it maybe Venus [something] syndrom where the valves in my leg don't let the blood through...but he wasn't sure.
I had my legs scanned by a sonagram technichian and she said there is a thickening of the outer vein in both legs that was maybe caused by a previous blood clot...but wasn't sure. She said I didn't have to worry about blood clots (of course I asked).
I have never had any pain or discolorization. ideas?

My doctor has suggested I may need a bladder suspension. MY sister in law said they were very painful to recover from. I just had back surgery and still recovering from it. I wonder if the problem is related to that surgery. thanks for your time.God Bless

I am 20 and I have genetically high cholesterol. My doctor doesn't want to start me on medication until I am done having children, so for the next 5+ years, I will not be on them...but I still want to get it lower than it is.

I am taking fish oil pills once a day (1200 mg, I think). Also, I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Last, but not least, I am going to try and lose a little weight. Apparently, losing weight lowers cholesterol. I am not necessarily 'overweight,' but it wouldn't hurt me to lose a few...

So I am just looking for other ways to lower cholesterol, whether it be certain exercises that help, foods, vitamins, etc...

THANKS!!

My best friends husband, who is also my best friend is an alcoholic, he drinks everyday, it is early in the day and he has called me at work, he was already drunk. His doctor has given him less than 2 years to live, if he stops drinking, if not he could drop dead anytime. I bought him the movie MY name is Bill W. it is a movie about alcoholics, he watched it twice so far in one week. he ends up in the hospital 2 - 3 times a month from his body going into spasams and they either detox him or just send him home after a couple of days. his wife is sad all the time and is at her whits end. We are lost and don't know what else to do. I think there should be a place where people like him can be sent to and locked up until they are better, everywhere he has gone to for help he walks out of and goes home, then it starts all over again. Does anyone know of a place that will force him to stay (locked up for his own good)??

I have a [almost constant] pain that started in my hip, went to my knee and then the thigh. I haven't been able to walk properly for about 4wks now. Sometimes my thigh goes dead but no pins and needles afterward or my knee feels like it should be all swollen but it isn't but it does go hot. The doctor has given me strong painkillers but they're starting not to work and I don't really want to get addicted to them. I'm on the waiting list for an xray. Anyone else had these symptoms? What was it? Thanks
