I've never heard of magnetic studs causing damage to the ears, and I highly doubt that they would. Many people believe magnets to have healing and restorative qualities, so if anything, they might actually be a health benefit. The only detriment I could see is if someone wore a hearing aid, the magnets could cause interference. But this is just simple interfering with a mechanical object in the ear, not really a health issue.

I always found them uncomfortable, but they won't do any damage. Magnetism is not harmful, and the squeezing is the same as you'd get with clip-ons.
