Try swimmer's ear....it should be availabel at your local pharmacy.
In addition get a antihistamine/decongestant combination product like Allerest, Tylenol Allergy Sinus, etc. and take it for a couple of days...this will help to open the Eustacian tube to improve middle ear drainage and cut down on secretions....
Adding oil of any type may make you feel better but really dosen't help improve the drainage which is what you need to do, so avoid adding any fluid of any type except the swimmers ear product.

If it is fluid behind your eardrum, you will need to have your ears drained and tubes inserted. I had this done by an ear, nose and throat doctor about 25 years ago. By now, they might have different methods, but I had to avoid getting ANY water in my ear for a LONG time after the surgery, which was in the Dr.'s office and had local anesthetic only. They also did an allergy test that was gruelling in order to determine if an allergy caused the fluid buildup. I had lost about 50% hearing in my left ear; most of it returned after that, but I still have a problem with wax. I don't know what happens if you don't treat it, but if it is anywhere as severe as mine was, I suggest seeing an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.

Try a product for swimmers ear from your local pharmacy, drops to be put in. Also try a decongestant. The only prob that exists is if the water sits in there too long, it can cause an infection from the bacteria that can start to grow. Warm olive oil is another way to try and flush it out. If it is trapped by ear wax, you may find the oil helps to break it down.

I have had this problem before. My plan was this --
1. waited a couple of days to see if it goes away on its own while living with the irritation of reduced hearing and slight coordination issues
2. if the problem did not go away in a couple of days or I started having pain, go see a doctor.
My fluid went away in about 2 days.
If there is pain, there may be an infection and you should see a doctor immediately.
Good luck.

I have this problem too sometimes. Do you clean your ears with cotton buds by any chance? It's possible you're digging in a bit too far :)
