My son is the worst for waking up, He uses 3 extremely loud alarm clocks set a different times and then that doesn't always work, He would do better with a second shift job. When he went to school he took evening classes. I have found that going to bed at the same time every night and conciously telling yourself that you will wake up at 7am or whatever time it is you need to be up by, conditions you to wake up at the same time everyday. You will have to do this for a week or two the same way and you will see it does work. you can still use your alarm, this will just help you be able to hear it go off.

I've tried everything and not much works. Going to sleep earlier has never helped me. I can sleep 15 hours and still be late for something. I used to have people at my job call me and keep me on the phone until I seemed awake. It only worked for awhile because I got used to the phone ringing and I started sleeping through it or I'd just shut it off in my sleep. It's also really annoying for other people.

Now I set the alarm on my cell phone to a different annoying song every few days. I still just shut it off and go back to sleep but at least it wakes me up for a second. It's sometimes harder to sleep through things when your not used to the sound. I guess that's why the radio works for people.

They actually do sell those things that shake your bed but I don't know anyone that's tried it.

I think there is a service that will call you if that would work. You need to see a sleep disorders clinic. You may have narcolepsy. I have it and have slept through 5.0 to 6.9 earthquakes. You may also have sleep apnea and are running low on oxygen at wake up time - which is VERY BAD and life threatening. If your oxygen gets too low, thats it, you wont wake up, ever again.

For the time being, get 3 or 4 clocks, LOUD ones and rotate them every week so that you dont get used to the sound and block it out.

If you react to other stimuli, like the light being turned on, you could get a timer and hook it to a lamp (turned on) directly over your face to shine brightly. Seriously, no matter what tricks you use, your body will adjust. The only surefire way of waking early is to go to bed early enough that you get appropriate sleep. And please, DO NOT SLEEP LATE ON THE WEEKEND. That will only screw you up even more as you try to train your body. A nap in the afternoon on weekends is OK, but awake at the same time on the weekends too.

Sleep earlier.
I get my daughter out of bed in the mornings by calling her cell phone even though she is in the next room. Seems its the only stimulus that she responds to. I wonder why. Hmmmmmm....
