If someone needs a liver transplant do they pay for the liver, the procedure, or both? Also, how come they dont pay living donors for their organs? Just wondering!

*I know, I know....you wouldnt be called a donor if you got paid! No smart comments please!

I live in Nevada and have lived with neurological difficulties that are undiagnosed. I have had every test in the book except a stand up MRI which I am in the process of getting done. If that doesn't show anything I am willing to travel to other cities to a top notch neurologist. My problem is very dibilitating and am on disibility and I know someone out there would know what is going on, it is just finding the right doctor.

I have heard this a couple times now and was curious if it was even true. Example.... say you get a DUI and your BAC is .21, but you have only had a couple beers. Is it higher because of your gastric bypass surgery? Hope I made sense of that. Thanks!!!

Ok this is gonna sound like the STUPIDEST THING! But I got a urine sample bottle the other day for some tests, and seeing the white powder in the bottle I thought it needed a good clean... Doh.
So I've basically now got the bottle but without the presevative stuff... My mum will be taking me to the docs, and so will expect me to bring it...Should I 'fess up to my stupidity to her? say I dropped the bottle in the loo (gross but would explain missing powder)? just say I lost it? orrrr I don't know... Just pee in the bottle and hope it doesnt go rancid?!

When the doctor prescribed me the medicine he asked me if was planning on having a baby i said no(i have one already and wasn't planning on another) the doctor told me that cell cept can terminate the pregnancy. i am currently with someone and i think i may be pregnant with his baby. If i go off the meds i know my body will basically be to the point to where i can't chew or breathe while i am laying down or even walk up stairs But if i AM pregnant and i continue the meds i can cause death to an unborn life which is against my beliefs...i don't want to be to the point of where i need help walking and feeding myself and even help showering but i don't want to cause harm to an unborn life what should i do??????Please Help.....

I was diagnosed and hospitalized with "viral encephalitis with motor nerve damage to bilateral lower extremities" in USA. I had numerous x-rays and MRI done to my knees, and all of the doctors accepted the diagnosis as it was.
I am immigrating to Australia. In the process I was required to see an orthopedic surgeon. The orthopedic surgeon laughed and said "that's unbelievable..." He also told me that there was no such diagnosis because encephalitis is a disease of the central nervous system.
My question is this: Is the diagnosis of "viral encephalitis with motor nerve damage" a valid one?

I have a esophagus tumor and have had it for a year now. I am starting to feel sick to my stomach. I am taking protonix once a day. Has anyone else had or have this? If so can you advise. My Dr says he will do another biopsy in a year. If I don't have to I don't want it done. Thanks

A friend gave me what he said is an Adderall. I have seen the blue pills that have a 10 on them. This one has 3 ones...like this 111 underneath what looks like an E on a slant. Has anyone ever seen these & know if they are truly an Adderall? Any pics to confirm would be great too.

Hello. First off I know I need to just go see a doctor, but I dont have one and I cant afford to go to the ER everytime my heart feels like hurting. I'm hopeing someone here will know what I have or at least an idea so I can research it and treat it till I can afford a doctor.

Heres my problem... Every year or so my heart will start beating really hard and fast to the point it makes me whole body shake. If you were to look at me you would see me shhakin, thats how bad it does it. Also it feels like heartburn when it first starts then progresses to a very painful heartburn feeling. The pain is horendous. It usually only last like 4 -5 minutes but last night before I went to bed this happened and lasted about 2 hours ( the non stop heavy beating) the pain lasted all night till i woke up just now. I did call the hospital one time to explain this and she said it sounded like smething ( i dont remember the name, only that it was 3 letters to shorten the name ) Please only serious rep.

I recently seen a story on television's "Good Morning America" about people donating their kidney's to others in need. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there are any complications to the donators after losing one of their organs. I just cannot seem to understand how someone is able to have an organ removed and continue to live. Why would something be there if it was not meant to be used by your own body?

I am doing a specialist study on trauma, with reference to complex PTSD. I believe it is possible to understand the type of event that caused the original trauma from observing the patient's response to subsequent (perceived as threatening) events. For example when PTSD was caused by an event involving being trapped indoors, under some circumstances claustrophobia may result.

I want, if possible to determine if the symptom can be used as an accurate determinant of the type of event that caused the injury. Are there any studies, books or papers that have been published on this area? Any sources would be really helpful.

Also, I'd be interested to know if there is a reliable definition of the boundary between the uncontrolled sudden PTSD reaction to an event, and the stimulation of an alter personality in Dissociative Identity Disorder. Is it just a matter of the time taken to respond to the threatening event? Again any written sources would be great
