better not!!!! unless you like to be a zombie!!! just get more strengh! its real easy to get used to it....you constantly have to increase the dosage!

The advice here appears to be sound but there are some other things you can do: First and foremost; You should not need another doctor. Tell the one you are seeing(over the phone will do) that you are not getting the relief you WANT...that is up to YOU...that being said; answer me this: how long have yoou been taking the xanax and in what quantity? I take wellbutrin, it may be used with xanax as may any of the SSRIs. BUT exercise is a significant help for both depression and anxiety as is cutting out caffeine in any form from diet pills to soda and tea as well as coffee...the natuaral supplements Surveyor mentioned also work...
BTW: it is doubtful your insurance will let you run all over collecting meds...trust me they Will stop you by not paying.

Yes but only if you tell the new doc you already take Xanax. Many people need more that one drug to help their symptoms but just be sure you are up front with each doctor about all of the medications and supplements you are using.

Most definitely. Alprazolam (Xanax) is a dangerous drug which the Food and Drug Administration has considered restricting or removing from the market. Other benzodiazepines (BZ) are just as inexpensive and work better. I am certain that any physician would only be too pleased to help. Changing from 1 BZ to another is quite easy as equivalent dosages are simply to calculate. Good for you - I pray that you will never take alprazolam again.

It's not a good idea unless the other doctor knows you are on xanax too. (That being said, xanax is sometimes prescribed with other anti anxiety meds.)

Antidepressants do the same thing and are a lot easier to get. You can even order them safely over the Internet. They just take 2 weeks to start working.
