Virused always mutate, so it will be very difficult to find a cure. Example: the common cold/flu(never the same virus) If you noticed when you get a flu shot, they pump you with the majority of dead cold/flu virus so you system can register them and be aware but in the end you still get sick but the time frame is shorter since you body know more or less what is in your system.

Also, if we were to find a cure for all viruses, the drug companies will go out of business and I don't think the would like that. So you never know, maybe they don't want to find the ultimate cure.

There is no way - even in theory - to prevent or cure all viruses. Our knowledge of the immune system remains limited. There are not only endless viruses out there they continually change their structure as they find ways to elude our immune system. There are interventions in the works to try to prevent a virus from attaching (gaining a foothold) on the lining of the upper respiratory tract which is of interest but even if successful will not be in use for a decade. Or longer.
