I came down with the stomach flu on Wed night (Valentine's Day) and was up all night. The next day I slept and drank sips of water (the throwing up had stopped, but the fever persisted.) On Friday I finally ate saltines and a dinner roll and drank seltzer too. Today I am STARVING but the thought of food makes me queezy. I drank snapple and tried to eat an english muffin, but I can't stand the texture in my mouth. Any thoughts on what I can do? White rice??? Pasta with no sauce? I am not sure, but I am hungry.

we have a suspicious ar of peanut butter and I was wondering.....half the jar has already been used (it contains the 2111 product ID that may be infected with salmonella). Since we have already eaten half the jar and no one has gotten sick ....does that mean it is safe?

I will most likely throw it out anyway and buy a new one today when we do our shopping....but I was just curious. Because on the news they were talking about some of the people who got sick saying they still had the PB that got them sick in the cupboard and it made me wonder how it took them so long to make the connection.

I caught bronchitis most recently and got over it. Now my friend has a cold! Is there a way to avoid this getting colds in general? I use lots of hand sanitizer to kill germs and I try to stay away from people with a cold/flu but it's hard!

If insects, such as blood feeding bed bugs and mosquitoes, are either immune to HIV and other human transmittable diseases, and/or do not seem to spread these diseases. Could it be possible that the saliva from these type of insects could be an antidote, or vaccine, for HIV and other blood related diseases?

I have a jar of Peter Pan peanut butter the FDA recalled yesterday. I haven't ate much of it, but I made myself a huge peanut butter sandwich last night right before I saw the recall on the news. Would I know by now if I had it? How long do I have to wait before I know for sure I'm in the clear?

I have a fever (I think). I'm bundled up in my bed but also hot. Can I turn the fan on or lower the AC (~70)? Or would that defeat the purpose?

I have always heard of the danger of strep causing heart valve and kidney damage and all sorts of terrible complications, but I have never seen in writing how long someone has to let strep go untreated before this damage occurs. My child has what I beleive is strep but the hospital advice nurse suggested not bringing him in for a couple of days to see if he gets better, he is better (no fever and his throat doesn't hurt much) but he now has hives over his back and neck, and now it's the weekend so the family medicine clinic isn't open. I often wonder how our ancestors dealt with common problems like this in the days before running to the emergency room for a case of sniffles. Also, does strep ever resolve itself?
