My brother catches every cold that goes around. All his life, he has had colds so often. I thought his immune system would be strengthened by them by now, but he seems to be getting sick even more often now-at least once a month. It's very hard for me, with anxiety and OCD, to handle this. My mom refuses to take him to the doctor, claiming that there's nothing wrong. Should he be getting sick this often? How many colds do 12-year olds typically get in a year?

I just finished getting over a flu, and my girlfriend is now just getting sick.
The thing is , its different symptomes than me and I've never had anybody I know have ones like it.

She is constantly saying shes freezing, yet she hasn't had a fever. She slept about 14 hours over the last day.
She coughs up mucus, usually a dry cough though. She gets headsches on and off, but I think that might be stress.
We live on res and are very limited on what we can do. My only friend who brough his car up here, is sick with a flu and cant drive.

Whats bothering me the most is that she is shivering and huddled in blankets and yet her body is neither cold nor hot.
Any advice would help, shes drinking lots of juice and some neo citron. Only 1 meal today.

I was recently diagnosed with a UTI and a couple of weeks later my boyfriend came down with similar symptoms (burning with urination, pain in his back etc...) My doctor's nurse told me that it was not contagious. My urine culture showed E.Coli as the bacteria that was causing my infection. My boyfriend's culture has not come back yet.

I had a throat infection about a year ago and now I have another throat infection. My doctor prescribed me to take Amoxicillin 500mg.

To reiterate my question in simpler terms, do you think its safe for me to retake the prescription?

Hello! My husband came down with the Norovirus near the end of December, for some odd reason I escaped. My question is... He was handeling pork the night he became ill, we ate some for dinner and then he froze some. I just thought about it now, is it safe to thaw, cook and eat or should I not trust it and throw it away. I will probably toss it, but I just hate wasting food. I am 5 weeks pregnant and I don't want to take any chances.
Please help!

I am trying to identify which form of malaria this is. I believe that it is Plasmodium Falciparum because of the ring forms, and because she ends up dying from it. I'm not entirely sure though, heres part of the casestudy.

On her return to have her PPD read, the patient was found to be hypotensive and had mental status changes. She was noted to be icteric. A diagnosis was made in the hermatology lab based on the appearance of delicate ring forms present in red blood cells. Some red blood cells contained multiple ring forms. She was transferred to our hospital. On arrival she was intubated and comatose. On physical examination, she was oozing bright red blood from her mouth and catheter sites. Her lab test were significant for hematocrit of 23% platelets of 39,000, prolonged bleeding times, and 3+ hemoglobin and 25 to 50 red blood cells in her urine. Her condition continued to deteriorate, and she had a cardiac arrest from which she could not be resuscitated.

I got a really bad ear infection a few months ago, first one I ever had- agony!!!Gt antibiotics & it cleared up.Then got another bad one in the other ear.Got antibiotics and it cleared up two weeks ago. Now I've got a little bit of pain again in both ears.I don't want more antibiotics,as they've already done funny things to me by killing all the 'friendly bacteria' so does anyone have suggestions for what to do to prevent it from coming back?

My medications that my doc prescribed me are questionable due to me listing them on here and getting bad responses about each one. I dont think he knows what hes doing. I did hear that ciprofloxacin is used for bacterial infections. I also saw it on a site. Should i take it upon myself to buy and take this medication. And if so, how many do i need to take a day. Does anyone have experience taking them or having any other recommendations?
