I was recently diagnosed with a UTI and a couple of weeks later my boyfriend came down with similar symptoms (burning with urination, pain in his back etc...) My doctor's nurse told me that it was not contagious. My urine culture showed E.Coli as the bacteria that was causing my infection. My boyfriend's culture has not come back yet.

Your doctor's nurse is right- you cannot 'catch' a UTI and therefore cannot pass it on either. When your boyfriend gets his results they should say if there's anything you need to do, because there are some infections that produce similar symptoms and that can be passed on.

If your nurse told you that they aren't contageous., then why are you asking a bunch of people that probably don't know what they are talking about? I would be more worried about the E-coli infection you have.. thats dangerous

A UTI can happen when you have sexual intercourse and you dont use the restroom right after. This is just what my doctor has told me. Be very careful and use protection.

Not that I've heard. A little painful, but not contagious.

It could be an STD as well. Make sure you use protection.
