You see, in a normal blood count, monocyte's normal valeu is from 0-6 in ratio with the rest of white blood cells, This means a low count or none at all is just normal BUT the increased number is indication of underlying disease.Could be inflammation or blood anomalies. Hope this helps. God bless

A low monocyte count by itself is not a very significant finding.

It can be associated with viral illnesses.

I guess if you have some sort of defect in monocyte production, you could have a low monocyte count, but this is quite rare and you should have lots and lots of infections and cancers and stuff.

Most commonly, it is of no significance and a repeat blood test in a week will show normal monocyte count again.

By itself, it means nothing. Is it a relative low count or an absolute low count?
