Yes you can. Herpes simplex1 causes cold sores and if the person you kiss has an active site then yes you may very well get it. Herpes simplex 2 is the sexually transmitted disease but can also be spread by kissing. Know where those lips have been. Herpes zoster is better known as chicken pox and can later come back as "shingles". So be careful out there.

I got identified with herpes virus (type 2) about 5 yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a silly one-night stand. I realize a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/WNKyZ everything changed.

Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This method provided the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

Yes you can. You can also get a cold sore from eating or drinking after someone who does.
Yes cold sores are a form of herpes, but so is chicken pox, and shingles. The point is they are all contagious.

Make sure you really enjoy the kiss! Cold sores are a virus (herpes) and once you have this virus it will make appearances in your mouth, on your lips and if you pick at it..well, it will spread. This herpes virus is not the same sexually transmitted virus most of us are aware of, but if you have a cold sore on your lips and want to have fun with your sweetie and some special kissing in sexual areas it can spread to this area. Also, once you have this virus it will appear at most inopportune times in your life.

Most people have the virus that causes cold sores in their body by age 5. No need to worry about it after that. (But, that virus can be transferred to the genital area).
