I know good and well that it can be possible to spread the herpes virus even when no symptoms are present, but I also know the risk is significantly less when no symptoms are present than when a sore is present.
Here is the deal- my girlfriend has what is apparently a cold-sore on her lip, which would be caused by the herpes virus. I love her, I enjoy kissing her, but I would just asune not spread the virus. So when is it safe to kiss her? Is there a certain ammount of time I should wait until after the symptoms dissapear? Is there any other information I should know?
Any sources that can be cited would be VERY helpful, especially if it's something I can look up online. I'm just looking for some understanding of this so we know what we're dealing with.
P.S.- this is herpes of the mouth, a cold sore, not the OTHER kind. We are not sexually active, so there is no risk in that area.
