The most common medication is sulfa.....Bactrim DS or Septra DS (both exactly the same thing) or Keflex for a duration of 7-10 days. Keflex is more expensive than Bactrim or Septra. Other meds are used when there is allergic reactions to the common RX. Cipro & Amoxicillin are alternatives-Cipro being very expensive. Make sure that no doses are missed and that you take it for the 7-10 days. If you do not finish RX, then you risk chance of the infection flarring back again. Also, drink a lot of water to help flush your system.

I went through this issue and NOTHING helped. I ended up with the top of the line antibiotics. It's called Sulfameth.
This stuff is pretty expensive even with insurance. But you definitely get what you pay for. I will always have an Rx for it for the rest of my life.

It really depends on the cause of the bladder infection. But in the meantime, drink lots of real cranberry juice (not cocktail.)
