He was bitten on his fingers this afternoon by some red or black ants and his fingers are starting to swell. We have some antibiotics and he has taken some. Should I take him to the ER? If we go it will be at least a 4 hr wait. What can I do for him in the meantime? Any info would be appreciated.

My best friend recently lost her husband due to HIV. He nor her never knew he had it until he got sick in April. He died in June. They have been together for 4 years and married for not even a year (married October of 2005). She got tested right after they found out he had HIV and she tested negative. The infectious dicease dr told her she may never get it. She only has to get tested for two years and then they say she is fine. I really dont see how this is possible. But then I got thinking she has been with him for 4 years and tested negative so maybe she does have a good chance. Can someone please explain to me how this is possible? Thanks.

I have gotten tonsillitis three times in the past four months. It has been a seperate case each time [the symptoms went away and then came back]. My doctor told me that; in Canada; you need to have to 5 documented cases to be considered for tonsil removal. I have had problems with my tonsils for almost 3 years now and the last specialist I saw refused to take them out, saying it would do me better if he left the tonsils in. Is there any truth to leaving tonsils in even though I get sick every couple months?

I've gone back to the ER twice and they keep telling me that the recovery process takes time. The pain is so severe that if I continue in a vertical position for too long I become nauseated and flush. I know that there's nothing you can do for a virus, but this is pretty bad. I'm a single parent and need to get back to work. If I don't work I don't get paid. Please advise.

Hi, I'm a little worried here. I usually don't use public bathrooms but I really needed to do a #2 the other day in a public toilet. When I sat down my genital touched the front inner part of the toilet. It touched for like a second. Could I have attracted HIV/AIDs because of that?
