My 74 year old father (who is probably more healthy than I am) was recently diagnosed with HCV. I understand the disease was only first defined in 1994. My father had a galbladder surgery about 45 years ago and another surgery to remove a malignant melanoma about 25 years ago. Other than those two situations, he has had no seriously invasive procedures until a hip replacement just 4 months ago. He has little or no liver function issues at this time (based on blood work and an ultrasound of the liver - no biopsy was performed).
So, could HCV have been transmitted during the surgeries over two decades ago and sat dormant without any signs until recently? Or, what are the other most probably methods of transmission that may have occurred more frequently that may not have required in-hospital procedures / blood transfusion? His doctor explained that heterosexual sex is very low on the list and his wife is not infected.

What is the mortality rate for a 21 year old with a staph infection in the bloodstream. (Contracted initially 3 years ago in the arm from a very large {illegal} tatoo.) She's already been having problems with bronchial cough off and on for a year. She keeps her skin clean, and when there is a small "flare up" of infection on the skin, she's pretty aggressive about keeping it clean with rubbing alcohol.

I didn't know this was so serious. Please help with any info.
Graciousness.

Chief Miniter of Andhra Pradesh and all other concern authorities Including Gujarat State AIDS Control Society. The correspondence is on it's web. The reply to GSACS with all refrence proves....Hon. President Of India confirms all disease curable with Naturopathy , means AIDS is Also curable. Mr. Babubhai has offered justification of the Document published by Department Of Health GOI with permission of Hon. President Of India . It looks that what goverment has to justify , babubhai is justifying.

The only insurance I have is Medi-cal. The county is aware of test result, but would much, MUCH rather be treated at a local hospital or a private Doctor who specializes in infectious diseases. I dislike the way Santa Clara County T.B. Clinic(Health Dept.) handles positive T.B. patients. My T.B. is not active(meaning my white blood cells have encased the virus, or contained it -so to speak. Chest x-rays are negative. But the County is so overloaded with work, that it would take forever to be treated. It took them over 3 months just to get my chest x-ray taken. I would like trhis handled in a proffessional, timely manner. Knowing that any one infected with the T.B. virus has a greater chance of developing full-blown active T.B. within the first 2 years of initial infections. I know further treatment should be done, but I want a good Doctor or a hospital like Good Samaritan to complete my treatment. Like I stated before: I have Medi-Cal insurance. I'm having difficulty finding provider.

do you think that it would be wrong to make a site where ppl would have the option to put their AIDS/HIV status on?
perhaps by using a user id, and then a first name, just so to test to see what would be the outcome?
is there such a site?
i am asking because in my town there is a girl who is infected and has knowingly slept with aprox. 25-30 men, and it scares me,

When I was 15 months old I was diagnosed with spinal meningitis and I was in a coma for 2 weeks. I was just wondering if there are any long term effects from it and what if any are they? I can't concentrate sometimes or comprehend things and it effects the jobs that I really want because I know in the long run I will be good at them but when I first start, it takes me a while to get the hang of it and no one wants to be bothered with the extra time it takes for me. I get dizzy and sometimes feel nausious. I get sinus headaches alot too but I don't think they are related. Can someone please fill me in a little because I am searching for answers and keep finding dead ends? Thanks!
