I felt nervous. I found myself thinking of all of the questionable situations that may have exposed me to HIV. When I got it done, you had to wait for a week for the results. I don't know if it is still the same. But for that entire week, I was just thinking so hard about what I would do had I found out I was positive. I even thought that I could feel myself becoming ill. Every little cough was noticed, any pains were amplified and every bump examined. After I got the Negative results, I was so happy. And to be honest with you, that week of intense fear made me more responsible. I made sure to adjust my behavior and be a little more prudent and vocal when it came to my need to be protected.

If someone who has no reason whatsoever to have the test come positive i.e not ever had any high risk behaviour or is in a high risk profession should be confident and not feel any nervousness at all when going for a HIV test. On the contrary anyone with a high risk behaviour would feel nervous no doubt.

Obviously he/she will feel some tension or anxiety. If the subject is confident that he/she has not undergone to any risky activity that may transmit the virus, he/she will have some mental satisfaction but it is not for sure that the result will be negative. There are several chances that HIV may infect you although you are not aware of it. So it is always better to get rid of the fear and get tested about the status. It is not only good for you but for your spouse also. In the broad way it can be said that it is better for the world.

I have never had one, but if I thought I needed to I would have one
if you have to have this test please go for your sake (and perhaps your partners) for your own peace of mind, and if necessary the treatment you may require, some say ignorance is bliss, but in this case ignorance is fear

you feel nervous! it's like you are holding your breath waiting for the jury to tell the court if you are guilty or not guilty when the penalty is life. but it's better than not knowing for sure.
