My Father has High BP and his mom had a triple bypass, and high bp and other stuff. How might this affect my chances of getting heart disease and what are other contributing factors? (besides smoking and birthcontrol pills, I don't do either of those). How important is weight for instance?

I had some disturbing news from my doctor. My total cholesterol level was 233. (HDL = 73, LDL = 141) Triglycerides 116. Glucose 80.

I was told by my doctor to eat foods low in saturated fats, but I already eat in a very healthy way. I am only 25, 5'2", and 105 lbs! I also exercise 3 times per week.

Should I be concerned now, or just have it tested in 6 mo and go from there? The reason I am concerned is that I don't see what lifestyle changes I could possibly make. Thanks!

I've just been diagnosed that my heart's right and left ventricles are thick as it works extra harder than usual, causing irregular blood pressure readings.

Have you ever been diagnosed similarly/know someone who faces the same situation before? How do you/they deal with it and how is it getting along?

Doc says that if its not treated... I'll be left with only a 'few good years' to live...

I'm only about to turn 24... and I understand that diseases don't discriminate.

The possible cause for this condition was probably an inhereditary symptom and for a fact that I was also an active athlete (until I had to stop completely due to stress and unbearable 'challenge' I face when competing, but still able to cope with own exercise, which I think is 'enough').

I wanted life insurance but five months later the life insurance company are stalling and i am still waiting on decision. The reason is that i have left axis deviation on ecg. The life insurance company sent me to private dr whose surgery was in back room of chemist. He repeated ecg and said it was abnormal. Ten years ago i saw cardiologist at top hospital who said it was just difference between blue and brown eyes. I am getting worried as implications if i am refused insurance for future house purchases etc?? also could it now be abnormal? Do i need to get second opinion from own gp?

Can i appeal a decision by life insurance company?

A heart disease mainly affects in the childhood. it affects through bacterial infection in tonstrils which properly not cared later affect the mitral valves. It mixes the good blood and bad blood due to the non working of valve. That means as per the required speed, the valve will not close or open. It can detect through stethescopic hearing even. The hearbeat speed varies.

It started weeks after I had my baby. All of a sudden I would almost have a heart attack just because there's a loud noise or some bad news.
It's been 2 years now and my symptoms seem to even worsen. My cardio says I'm fine. They checked my adrenal function and thyroid, too. All is "good".
I also suffer from anxiety.

Hi,
I was just wondering,
any experts out there have advice.
I have some problems with a fast heart rate 160bpm, at times.
I take take beta blockers when needed.
Had all kinds of tests with a cardio electro physiologist. blood, heart, ekg, heart moniter etc.
The only thing they found was low thyroid.
I am sleepy alot ,and gained some weight.
This happened after my third child was born(heart rate problem)
So I am scared to take synthyroid for my hypothyroidism.
What other choice it there?

I am a 20yr old female. I have a fast heart rate all of the time. My cardiologist who im seeing now trys a different pill every time i go see him. I have symptoms that go along with the fast heart rate such as: passing out, palpitations, chest pain, and lightheadedness. Out of about 3 different ones, nothing has helped and the symptoms persist and some have even gotten worse such as the chest pain and palpatations. Has anyone else had this problem or knows of someone who had this problem? Im just frustrated becuase nothing seems to be working

Hey, I got my blood pressure taken and it was 126/70. I'm an 18 year old female. Is that good, average, too high or too low? I got a severe history of heart problems and high blood pressure in my family, so I just want to keep a check on it. Thanks.

Question:

Say a person has, say 5% Heart Disease. O-kay?

Once a person gets that 5% damaged heart disease......there no way ever to get Rid of that 5% heart damaging, right?

I mean, I'm saying, once anyone gets 5% - 10% of their Heart damaged by Gum disease.....there no way to make that person's Heart 100% healthy again, right?

His or her Heart will always stay only 90% or 95% in good health. No retrograting back to 100%, right??
