Yes you're age, gender, medical condition fit or not has an effect on blood pressure, it is usually best not to let the Systolic number (top one drop below 90 and the diastolic below 40). You're last reading in on the low side but the thing with blood pressure it is constantly changing. For example if you were to run for a bus this would increase it, however if you were to be relaxed on a sunny beach it will come down. Even eating a meal will alter the blood pressure.

The trick is not to worry too much about it, but if you do have what is known as HYPOTENSION then you should visit the doctor he may be able to help with medication. .

Blood pressure is different for everyone. Are you having any symptoms with this low blood pressure like dizziness, fatigue, fainting? If you are, your blood pressure is probably too low. I would say that if your systolic BP (the top number, which in your example is 90) gets below 98 consistently than you probably need medication. The normal BP is 120/60. Hopefully you will see your doctor soon about this.

Hi, I'm 51 and have always had relatively low blood pressure. When I was in my late 40's, my blood pressure dropped so low that I only registered one number instead of the normal two. (At that time my blood pressure registered at 54). My doctor told me to eat more salt because it can elevate blood pressure. (Just like if your blood pressure is high they say to avoid salt). I started eating more salt and my blood pressure came up enough that I didn't need any medications. I hope this helps.

I'm about 5'0" and overweight, but I also have fairly low blood pressure, comparable to yours. The doctors and nurses have never expressed concern--in fact, they say that my BP is pretty good. What do the doctors say after they've taken your blood pressure?

to my knowledge this varies from age and gender, for some too low isnt that low, but having a low blood pressure has the same symptoms with that of having high blood pressure. so it wouldnt hurt to check once in a while.........best thing to do is to consult with your doctor and find out if this bp of yours is really low for our age and body build and ask for a prescription for your case.

Within limits, the lower your blood pressure reading is, the better. In most people blood pressure isn't too low until it causes symptoms such as lightheadedness or fainting. In certain conditions or disease states, blood pressure can become too low, as in these examples:
certain nervous system disorders (orthostatic hypotension, autonomic failure)
endocrine disorders (parathyroid disease)
heart attack and heart failure
prolonged bed rest
fainting (syncope) (SIN'ko-pe)
decreases in blood volume due to severe bleeding (hemorrhage) or dehydration
effects of certain drugs
severe infections (sepsis)
shock
