rheumatoid arthritis factor,
relative risk for future cardiovascular event.

well, I am a heart patient from birth until I die. What does this mean? In layman words please?

Several years ago, I was told by a doctor that I had a "flapping heart valve". Now, I am kinda worried that the two are related. I am 48 years old. Has anyone experienced this type of medical diagnosis? I won't know anything until after the test on Monday, but have noticed of late that I have palpitations and at night when I am going to sleep that I can actually feel/hear my heart beating really hard. Am I just being overly concerned? Thanks for any responses.

One of my friends showed me an article on it, and though it appears rare (1 in 100,000) it's kinda scary considering at the level of stamina and stuff that I need to compete

What is cerebral stroke? My father died recently due to cerebral stroke. He was hospitalised for high bp. He was ok for first two days. After that he went unconscious. There was no recovery since then, he died on the fourth day. Reason given by doctors was cerebral stroke. I have seen the info in wikipedia. I want to know from experiences of the people. I knew only heart problems and heart attacks. I never knew that blood clot in the brain would kill the person.

My doc said my cholesterol was a little high at 150. She said it is not that bad, but because of high blood pressure and my father dying at 63 after two cardiac surgeries, she would like to put me on a cholesterol lowering drug as a precaution. Is this something anyone else has been advised to do?

I have been told to cut down on drinking caffiene (or even to eliminate it from my diet).

What I would like to know:

Has anyone else had this problem, or knows of someone who has, and what did you or they do to eliminate it?

How much caffiene does decaffinated coffee have?

Is there a website that can tell us how much caffiene is in the beverages that we drink?

What are the serious consequences from PVCs?

Thank you,
Pauley

I have mitral valve prolapse, and occasionally suffer from palpitations, ectopic beats and tachycardia. My symptoms have been pretty benign, but for the past month or so,the palpitations have been bothering me,so my doctor put me on Lopressor. It seems to help some, but I still have skipped beats, which are quite bothersome and unnerving.Does anyone here have this, and what, besides medication,do you find that helps? Thank you.

my partner is a 45 year old male who has recently been diagnosed with AF. His is intermittent. I am very concerned about his health but he keeps telling me there is nothing to worry about, that's it's a minor inconveience.

I think it's more serious than that. Does anyone know anything about AF and it's long term affects?

Could i be a hypochondriac? I often think im sick with all kinds of diseases...and usually they vary. Like if i read something online about a certain disease then ill start to feel it and believe that i have it. I start to actually see the symptons and it drives me crazy and then i'll start crying. Im also sort of weak minded, i can't take things alot and if i see something serious , i tend to think that it could happen to me. Like yesturday, i was reading about different diseases online and then i started to think that i could have each one..and its like persistent in my mind over and over and over.
