My daughter is 21 handicapped, tiny in stature and a little overweight, she first went for an EKG that came back abnormal, she then went for a echocardiogram and the doctor found a little hardening of the aortic artery of her heart. Now they want to give her a eet test ,not sure if i am saying this right. its a test where they knock her out and put a tiny camera down her throat to monitor the heart even closer. For this she has to go to the hospital the test should take an hour and then the recovery is an hour. Has anyone ever had this done and what are they looking for and with the hardening of the artery can that be treated with medicine. Also, what causes hardening of the arteries. Any help or advice of this would be appreciated cause I am very concerned and worried. My daughter is my life. THANKS!!!!

I have had about 3 episodes where I feel chest pain on the left side, my left arm hurts, and I get dizzy. Eventually it goes away, but my chest will always hurt without the other symptoms. I'm wondering if I can be having heart attacks that just go away or if that's impossible. Also, I have had an ultrasound, stress test, and electrocardiogram all have been normal expect that I have a begnin heart murmur.

I was having chest pains the other day and went to the hospital. They did an EKG and told me everything looked fine. They also told me that I had an abnormal ekg, but he looked back from last year and the EKG didnt change meaning it was the way my heart beated. I am 25 and he said because of my age and the EKG they didnt think it was heart related. But I told him that my mother, who is 46 has CAD and a heart attack 2 weeks ago and a bypass surgery 5 months ago. They still didnt care.

I then went to the doctor the next day and my BP was 120/100, which is high, but he didnt care about that..also, my good cholesteral was 39, and my bad cholesterol was 96. Arent those two signs of heart disease? The BP and the cholesterol? I also have MVP with regurgitation and he said that can cause chest pain.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this and it wasnt CAD? I dont want to have what my mother has and I try to keep myself healthy.

were 1.0 which is very low, don't know why. I was told I had a panic attack, I say no. Was on Paxil for the last year for panic, I am almost off it, I am tapering I am down to 5 mg. I have watched my diet eating more potassium rich foods and have not had a problem since. Did I have a heart thing?I don't think it was panic. I think I had a panic attack because I was having a heart issue. What do you think?

My cholesterol test came back from the doc saying my total cholesterol is 221. My triglycerides were 83 and my HDL was 61, which the doc says is good, but my LDL was 141. I eat lots of whole grains and fruits/veggies and I exercise an hour a day, 6 days a week. What can be causing the high LDL, and how can I lower it?

My next door neighbour was rushed to hospital in an ambulance this afternoon. As concerned neighbours, we gave his wife (who doesn't drive) our number to ring if she needed a lift home from the hospital. My g/f and I joked that they would ring at 6:15, just as we were sitting down to our tea. Low and behold, what happens? So I've sent the g/f off to pick them up, so I can carry on drinking beer and sitting on here answering questions. Good samaritan or what? P.S the hospital is 25 miles away. Not really a question I know, but I just wanted to get that off my chest. No pun intended. Glad my neighbour has been given the all clear, but now I've got to wait for my tea!

He had bypass surgury, after a checkup revealed two blocked arteries. He never had a heart attack fortunately, because they caught it in time. However, they told him he couldn't go on any roller coasters ever again. It's been 8 years. I'm not going to have him risk it, but I would think that after this long he would be healed enough. Wouldn't he?

Yet, people do have cholesterol or plaque that does block blood flow, don't they? Would it still be important to try to reduce cholesterol, and how? I'm confused.

My mother has Coronary Atery Disease, and I was wondering what are the odds that I will have it? She is 46 and had a triple bypass(failed) five months ago, and had stents put in 2 weeks ago. Her father died of a massive heart attack at 59, and her mother had congested heart failure, but didnt die from that.

I am already having some issues with my cholesterol and blood pressure(it was ONE reading that was off though) and I have Mitral Valve Prolapse like my mother also had at my age, and regurgitation. That is all. My father has no heart problems. And Im hoping to have his genes with that.

Im hoping it was because the people with the heart problems smoked like chimneys and I have never smoked.

Diabetes, heart attacks, cancer, strokes, back injuries etc etc. Our nation is ver stressed, over weight and under nourished and it's killing us. Not to mention, driving health care costs through the roof.

What is really wrong with us, what are we looking for in food that we don't get elsewhere?

This happened a few weeks ago and I mentioned it back then... but I was coming home after riding my bike and it winded me pretty good. I got inside and my chest just -hurt-. I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I could barely breathe and my whole jaw hurt, right to my teeth. It lasted for what seemed like forever. I finally just stumbled into the shower and let the water run while I sat on the floor. Once it passed, it felt like I had been hit in the chest with a baseball bat or something. The kicker? I'm 19, one month from 20. But now I feel fine... I just don't take that hill anymore on cold nights.

Am I looking too into this?

I really want to help my Dad lower his blood pressure. I know that he needs to avoid excess salt or anything that contains high salt content but he's a single Dad now and he and my brother live alone and since he doesn't ever have time to cook, he makes unhealthy food choices that are quick to prepare (mostly heat and eat stuff). These are usually really high sodium too which isn't helping his condition so I want to help them out by preparing some healthy meals for them. Especially for helping my Dad get his blood pressure to a safe range. Can anyone please give me some recipes or a link that contains recipes that are healthy for someone who has high blood pressure? I really wanna help him / them.
