I was having chest pains the other day and went to the hospital. They did an EKG and told me everything looked fine. They also told me that I had an abnormal ekg, but he looked back from last year and the EKG didnt change meaning it was the way my heart beated. I am 25 and he said because of my age and the EKG they didnt think it was heart related. But I told him that my mother, who is 46 has CAD and a heart attack 2 weeks ago and a bypass surgery 5 months ago. They still didnt care.

I then went to the doctor the next day and my BP was 120/100, which is high, but he didnt care about that..also, my good cholesteral was 39, and my bad cholesterol was 96. Arent those two signs of heart disease? The BP and the cholesterol? I also have MVP with regurgitation and he said that can cause chest pain.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this and it wasnt CAD? I dont want to have what my mother has and I try to keep myself healthy.

At 25 you should not be that concerned. I am not a doctor but I spent many years as a hypochondriac, consequently I learned allot, which is dangerous: However, a systolic blood pressure of 120 is good, the diastolic of 100 you might improve by brisk walking an hour a day, try to get it below 80 more like 120/80 or less. Additionally, if you don't have enough of the minerals Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium in the right levels you'll experience chest discomfort and a high diastolic reading. Eat nuts like walnuts, almonds.

Your HDL cholesterol of 39 should be improved but for a man it is normal, try, with brisk walking and eating herring/sardines twice a week to bring it up above 45 or better 60.
If your LDL cholesterol was 96, you are a blessed individual, anything less than say 125 is okay.

Your worrying about a condition can do more harm than good.

mitral valve prolapse with regurg is fairly common;not really that big a deal in terms of cardiac things
your blood pressure is not high, your diastolic is but your systolic, the top is prehypertension
get exercise
your two cholesterols should be less than 200 which they are are should ideally have a 1;3 ratio
drink 1-2 glasses of red wine, eat more tomato sauce and pasta, watermelon
also what else did your mother do? My dad smoked like a chimney, the only time a cigarrete wasn't in his mouth was when he was sleeping. if he could have found a way to smoke without burning the house down, i think he would have. consequently, surprise surprise bypass and pacemaker. genetics count but it is also the other things that we do that affect it also
