He had bypass surgury, after a checkup revealed two blocked arteries. He never had a heart attack fortunately, because they caught it in time. However, they told him he couldn't go on any roller coasters ever again. It's been 8 years. I'm not going to have him risk it, but I would think that after this long he would be healed enough. Wouldn't he?

Its not that he hasn't healed but more about the stress it puts on your heart when you are on the roller coaster. Its the G-force and acceleration of the roller coaster that is harmful. I wouldn't risk it.............

Bypass surgery only corrects the particular vessels that were blocked, it doesn't cure what caused the blockages. He's fortunate that he didn't have an AMI. That is usually the 1st indication most people get that there is a problem.

I think you deserve my special profound regards on being concerned over your dad's illness that is highly becoming of a good son.
You see, the roller coaster had nothing to do with you father's illness nor the +ve G /-ve G. His coronaries underwent normal aging process.
GOOD NEWS FOR YOU IF HIS MYOCARDIUM IS INTACT FORGET EVERY THING HE WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL.
You will be one happy family once again, as your dad is in good hands.
Best of luck to your entire family.
