I have been told repeatedly that the heart stops when a person yawns or hiccups. No doubt that SOMEONE died of a heart attach because he was yawning all the time; people die from sneezing, coughing hiccupping, all sorts of things.
What is your point? We will each and everyone of us die; it is merely a matter of when, where, and how.
People with sleep apnea will not be surprised; that is what sleep apnea is; your heart stops, and you stop breathing. Then it starts up again, causing the rasping, annoying sound known as snoring! :):)
While it is a POSSIBILITY, its LIKELINESS or its PROBABILITY of happening is slight, almost nil.
So, don't worry; get a good night's sleep.

I grew up hearing the same thing. It is not true, it is what was told to children to spook them. I have never heard of anyone who has really died from it. And if it were true I would have seem it by now, or it would have been me that it happened too. So kick back and relax and have a few good yawns at thier story.

It's not true.
A healthy heart can SLOW DOWN in response to various things that occur in the body but it it's healthy, it will not stop. A common experience is people having a sense of nausea and lightheadedness when they see something objectionable (such as watching the doctor put stitches in someone) - this is called a vasovagal reaction and it occurs when the brain sends a stimulus down the vagal nerve to cause the heart to slow down. We don't know why this happens (it doesn't seem to make much sense) but we do know that it happens - sometimes to the degree that someone can pass out!
A similar reaction can occur with hiccups or bearing down (as in straining at stool).
A healthy, heart, however, will not stop because of this.

No this is not true. Your heart stops of medical reasons. Many of which are high cholesterol which leads artery blockages. There are other diseases which cause the heart to stop.
