Could i be a hypochondriac? I often think im sick with all kinds of diseases...and usually they vary. Like if i read something online about a certain disease then ill start to feel it and believe that i have it. I start to actually see the symptons and it drives me crazy and then i'll start crying. Im also sort of weak minded, i can't take things alot and if i see something serious , i tend to think that it could happen to me. Like yesturday, i was reading about different diseases online and then i started to think that i could have each one..and its like persistent in my mind over and over and over.

You should see your doctor and confess all. It might be that you have an anxiety disorder which makes you worry about being ill. Or it might be that you actually have a physical illness. Either way, your regular doctor is the right person to sort it out.

And if the doctor tells you that it is an anxiety disorder, never fear (sorry!). There are a variety of medical and non-medical treatments that can help QUITE A BIT. Oftentimes, just hearing from a professional that the problem is an anxiety disorder goes a long way to helping victims put things in perspective - they no longer worry as much about dying or suffering because they realize, "Oh! Those thoughts are just my anxiety disorder kicking in again!"

Best of luck to you!

I am not a health care worker. I am only going to share my experience of a similar thing. I have had a friend I like a lot for 25 years. Up until two years ago he was just as you describe yourself. I said once to him: "Why don't you just stand on a corner when you get paid and waive down the first Dr. and give him your check" It just was so hard for me to endure, much less him. It was Dr. after Dr. and illness after illness, many imagined or feared. Two years ago he stopped eating gluten...which is in all wheat, rye and barley products. The results have been astounding. The hypochondria and imagined and fear of illnesses are all gone. The mental breakdowns are gone. The unpleasant personality traits are gone....it is just a miracle. For what it's worth, this is a true story. Perhaps you will want to investigate food allergies. They cause more things than you would believe., although the symptoms from gluten are the worst I've ever heard of. Good luck. Jay

Hypochondria is what is known as a somatiform disorder. People who have this are usually more sensitive to their own body functions and feelings. They tend to "feel" more than others and often misinterpret normal feeling as a sign of illness. This creates anxiety.
There are medications that can help if this is interfering with your life. Talk to a doctor.
Good Luck.

i think u\you are not really a hypochondriac. but you might be leading to be one... as of now, maybe you just stressed out on things like in your life or something...

before one could be considered a hypochondriac, he/she has to have these symptoms:

1. preoccupation of fears of having a serious disease (you have this one)

2. preoccupation persists despite medical intervention

3. the preoccupation causes significant distress or impairment in social, occupational or other areas.

4. last for 6 months

i hope this helps...

I'd say yes. Give wiki a look to learn more about it, direct link in the source.
