hypertensive = high blood pressure
cardiovascular disease = clogging of the arteries which feed the heart muscle.
So combine the two and you have a combination of high blood pressure and clogged arteries.
The high blood pressure is likely because of the clogged arteries, and the arteries are usually caused by a number of factors, primarily poor diet, sedentary lifestyle and hereditary factors.
