Hey, I got my blood pressure taken and it was 126/70. I'm an 18 year old female. Is that good, average, too high or too low? I got a severe history of heart problems and high blood pressure in my family, so I just want to keep a check on it. Thanks.

The "norm" is 120/80 so your top number is a little high. It is nothing to be worried about though. I say where your at would be good. If your worried try taking your blood pressure like once a week and write it in a log. Try to do it at the same time everyday. Make sure that you haven't smoked or did anything strenuous right before you take it as all of that will play a role it. Again with the numbers you gave for your bp i say that you have nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps.

I have read that some medical professionals consider a systole (the top number) between 120 and 140 to be prehypertensive. Since heart disease and high blood pressure run in your family, you might want to reduce your sodium intake and eat more potassium-rich foods. And ask your doctor what else you can do to prevent your blood pressure from becoming a problem.

that pretty good for your age, are you typically active ? the top number could be a tad bit lower, but it's fine, just try to take your pressure first thing in the morning, after sitting at rest for about 10 minutes, and never directly after eating or drinking

That's fine. I wouldn't worry unless it gets to 140/90 or higher consistently.
