Hello, I am a 15 year old boy, and I have found, especially after running or sometimes eating even, that I develop a chest pain. It isn't like a heartburn, but more of a tightness, or a light pricking in my chest area. I found that I cannot run a full mile, and 1/2 mile is even hard. I am not extremely obese; extra baggage, but not fat. Heart problems run in my family...dad, age 53, 1 heart attack, uncle #1 age 48, 3 heart attacks, uncle #2, 2 heart attacks. (All still living). Their parents both died of heart failure/attacks. Anything that you guys can do to help would be appreciated.

Is a negative EKG or cardiac cath indicative you will never have an MI in the future? Or how often do you need retesting for both?

Impossible question to ask ,I know! The thing is, my mums side of the family are all healthy and strong and my gran (83yrs) and a few of her siblings (all older than herself) are still going strong! My dads side of the family, well!!!!!!! What can I say? Dad died of a blood clot when he was 34yrs old, his mum died at 35yrs of a heart attack, his sister died age 29yrs of pnuemonia because her heart was too weak for her to fight it. Her daughter, had a blood clot on her lung (31yrs) she survived. My brother has had 2 heart attacks and he's only 40yrs. The thing is, Im terrified Im next, Im 42yrs, slim build and have had no health problems at all. Im a smoker. Though my gran and aunt that died never smoked in their lives. Is it possible apart from cholestorol tests, to find out if I carry the dodgy family gene or not? My cholestorol is normal by the way as I've been tested before. If there are any nurses or health professionals reading this, I'd appreciate any advice!!! Im female.

I get what feels like heart burn sometimes. But i am worried it might be more. How can i tell if it is heart burn, or a heart problem? They seem very similar with their symtpoms, so what symptoms help seperate them?

My mom is getting surgery next Monday and they are doing a bypass on her. Single bypass is all I know. 80% blockage on one side and 60% blockage on the other. Has someone you loved ever had it done and what should I expect? Any help would be wonderfully appreciated. Thank you in advance.
