Impossible question to ask ,I know! The thing is, my mums side of the family are all healthy and strong and my gran (83yrs) and a few of her siblings (all older than herself) are still going strong! My dads side of the family, well!!!!!!! What can I say? Dad died of a blood clot when he was 34yrs old, his mum died at 35yrs of a heart attack, his sister died age 29yrs of pnuemonia because her heart was too weak for her to fight it. Her daughter, had a blood clot on her lung (31yrs) she survived. My brother has had 2 heart attacks and he's only 40yrs. The thing is, Im terrified Im next, Im 42yrs, slim build and have had no health problems at all. Im a smoker. Though my gran and aunt that died never smoked in their lives. Is it possible apart from cholestorol tests, to find out if I carry the dodgy family gene or not? My cholestorol is normal by the way as I've been tested before. If there are any nurses or health professionals reading this, I'd appreciate any advice!!! Im female.

FWIW; I'm in a similar situation as yours! Dad's side of the family *all* die before 40 (men) 50(women). I'm now the oldest member of that family *ever*. I've got the gene as I passed it on to my late children. The only reason anyone can think of to explain my being around is that I've been vegetarian (near vegan) since the age of 10.
Something to think about! There are a few tests for known bad genes, whether or not they'd be of use depends on if your family has a gene they know to test for.

Whether or not you have inherited the "dodgy gene" you are putting yourself in the high risk category through your smoking. I know it's not easy, but you must try to give up as soon as possible.
Apart from that, it is unusual for so many female members of a family to die before the menopause from heart-related causes. The gene may not be able to be determined, but because of your family history, it would be advisable to arrange with your doctor to have regular medical checks (at least annually) bearing heart conditions in mind. Most things, if caught early enough, can be treated and monitored, vastly increasing life-expectancy.
It's certainly saved my dad's life. As a result of annual medical checks through work, he was diagnosed with diabetes 10 years ago. Because of that, he had regular check ups looking for diabetes related conditions, and although has had to have preventative heart surgery, at the age of 64, he is healthier now than he has been in years. If the original diagnosis had not been made, I have no doubt he would have had a heart attack by now. And it was all due to having regular medical check-ups...

There can be a genetic link to heart disease but not always. The best things you can do is to have your blood pressure, blood fats and ECG monitored regularly, at least once a year. Give up smoking, you really must because of other health risks such as stroke, cancer etc.
Scrutinse your diet and be healthy about fat consumption, take Omega 3 fish oils daily and excercise regularly. Also stop worrying, everyone has some dodgy family health history and we all will die one day. Don't stop enjoying life because of it!!

It looks as though you've inherited from your mothers side. Try not to worry - I understand where you're coming from but anxiety isn't going to help you. Finding out that you've inherited genes that aren't great isn't to be taken lightly as you have to live with the knowledge. Maybe have a chat with your GP. I have a similar family history to yours & infact I have heart problems & living with this has been very difficult to absorb but thankfully with time, I've been able to reflect on what I DO have that's positive & focus on this, rather than an early demise. I wish you well.

Hi
Most women who are pre-menopausal will have a normal cholesterol. Get them to check your Triglyceride levels too, plus I would ask if you can have a number of clotting checks done (INR, Prothrombin, etc) to see if you have a pre-dispostion to clotting. There are some DNA tests but these are more specific. If you are taking the oral contracpetive think about stopping this or speak to your GP. As mentioned above, try to stop your smoking, this does increase your risk of clotting. Finally, think about taking a fish oil supplement high in DHA and EPA, these will reduce certain clotting factors in your body if the heart disease you describe is related to clotting.
Good luck

Quit smoking, either take an asprin a day or eat garlic or take garlic tablets daily, this will help to thin your blood. Exercise daily, don't sit crossed legged for long periods of times, and watch your diet, keep away from fried food. You know the rest.
Good luck, be safe.

You just cannot take one life as the ultimate role of a soul on earth. God creates via his essences and entities the whole of cosmos. In that all is subject to karma as within the cosmos and down to man and lesser beings. each incarnation sees the soul revisit the earth in yet another body of matter. In one life you can be a Hitler or a Pope or a Royal etc. The next life will see perhaps a complete change of venue so to say. All in all hell will as such not apply to the soul. Eventually all souls with be as the one soul the oversoul in Heaven as called. Amen.

With your family history, why the hell do you smoke? If you were really concerned for your health then you would not smoke. You are 5 times more likely to have a heart attack than a non smoker. Stop smoking, eat a healthy diet and exercise regular.
