hello
i am only 28 years old and was diagnosed with arvd last year. i have a twin sister who got a few tests done and so far they don't think she has it. this is a genetic disease and their's nothing someone does to cause themselves to have it. you are probably safe from having it, but you should go to your doctor and have tests run.
for information on arvd, go to their website at www.arvd.com, this explains all about it.
also you can look online at the John Hopkins website and they can mail you a pamphlet on arvd.

ARVD stands for arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia which is a disorder that predominantly affects the right side of the heart and causes ventricular arrhythmias. In many patients the disease is familial. ARVD may account for as many as 5% of unexpected sudden deaths under the age of 65 and 3-4% of sudden death during sports. In other words it is a progressive heart condition in which the muscle of the right ventricle is replaced by fat and fibrosis, which causes abnormal heart rhythms.
