A family member recently had a stroke. Any ideas of gifts I can bring to make her feel more at ease and at home?

Not sure what types of effects your family member has had from the stroke but here are some suggestions: if having trouble with speech - a photo album of family, friends and things important in that person's life with short labels beneath, a telephone that is programmed with peoples' numbers and labeled with large photos of them (easy to find online); if having trouble with walking - a sit up in bed pillow, lapdesk; if having trouble with arm movement - velcro closure slippers or other clothes . Good luck

You did not say how serious the stroke was, I can tell you from my own experience. I am 45 yrs old and recently had a stroke. I was at ease just being able to be alive and have my family close to me. It has been a year and I am still trying to understand why it happened to me. It would make her feel better if you could take time to spend with her everyday.

You didn't say how mild/severely she is physically/mentally challenged? Flowers or a plant are always good. Also any toiletry articles you feel comfortable giving her. If she has a good sense of humor, something like a bicycle horn to clip on her cane or walker, a rear view mirror,or anything you can think of along that line to cheer her up. Just your visit will mean a lot.
