My husband is 30 years old and just had a physical and the doctor said his glucose was a bit high at 206 and will do another blood test in 6 months. What should we know about this, is this a precursor for diabetes. He's very healthy (at least we thought before this test), works out alot, eats a vegetarian diet. How concerned should we be?

I am a type 1 (insulin dependant) diabetic of 12 years. I am a mother of 3 baby girls. My 2nd child has been excessively aggitated lately so last night I took her blood sugar to see what it was. It was about midnight and she hadn't had much to eat all day and her sugar was 69 which to me would be just barely out of range on the low side. I fed her a good size helping of rice and chicken (which obviously has a lot of carbs) and she went to sleep. About 11:30 this morning I checked it again and again she had had nothing to eat yet. It was 63. Again, low. Please keep in mind that she is not on and high blood sugar correcting medication. Wouldn't you think that if she is diabetic it would be sky high after eating all that rice and no insulin? Is this a normal blood sugar for infants? (She is 14 months) Do you think she could just be hypoglacemic? I need opinions.... Thanks

Before anyone suggests this, I already have called her pediatrition and am waiting for their call.

My daughter has been ill with a cold for the past few days. She has been eating normally and has NOT vomited. She has had large ketones in her urine for the past few days. Is this normal during an illness? She has been dealing with high blood sugar that comes and goes, so I am monitoring that as well. She had a blood sugar of 273 and large ketones on Saturday night, but the blood sugar went down on its own and I did not take her to the ER. Her regular doctor is unconcered. She is seeing a pediatric endocrinologist tomorrow, but in the meantime I want to know if non-diabetics can have ketones during illness as a normal part of the illness.

So far I have been avoiding coffinated and decafinated stuff because they both have the same effect on me. (They both hit my blood stream and make me drousy.) Anything else? Could sugar be a trigger too?

I need some help and general ideas on how or should i pursue a legal issue pertaining to a medication I was on manufactured by Elly lilly a huge drug maker. This pill has been around for about 8 years and they have pending suits because of false misleading ads and some people that have developed diabetes. I have never been diagnosed with full blown diabetes but have had some sugar level issues as well as some bad effects while on the drug. Do I have a legitimate issue and complaint? if so what is the next and proper steps without spending alot of wasted time and money on attorneys when i may not have a case. Information is needed thanks so much.

My 4 year old son has had 3 seizures in the past 6 months and an EEG showed normal results and he did not have a fever at the time of his seizures. He had a seizure Friday and I called an ambulance to check his blood sugar and it was 218. After he finally woke up and could drink I was giving him alot of water to flush his system out. It was 8 hours after his seizure before we could get him to a doctor and they checked his blood and it was 112 and they said he wasn't diabetic and that maybe the seizure caused his sugar to go up that high. His seizures are usually over five minutes long. Is this something to worry about or not? Is he diabetic? He drinks alot and uses the bathroom alot. His feet and hands stay red and sometimes look purple. He's autistic and doesn't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. So we really need to figure this little guy out before something bad happens.

Last night I went out to celebrate a friends birthday and had quite a bit to drink (vodka/cranberry & beer). This is NOT something I do often. But today my blood sugar level spiked to 175, and I feel VERY out of sorts, tired & jittery. I've been diabetic for about 5 years, (30 yrs old). I keep my sugar level steady between 101 (before meals) and 140ish (after meals) with medication (not insulin). Is this normal?

I know that alcohol significantly raised blood sugar, but the last time a went out to have "celebrate" was about 9 months or so ago, and I don't remember such a spike or feeling so "off".

Thanks for sharing!

Hi, i'm a diabetic. I'm not here to ask you about what i can and can't eat. I'm here to ask you for your opinion. Does it bother you to see non-diabetics ask about a diabetic diet, just because they want to lose weight. To me that seems like abusing something that shouldn't be tampered with. Diabetes is a real problem, so why are non-diabetics trying to copy our "sometimes" hard lifestyle. I would just like to know your opinion on this subject. Thanks alot
