There is no "best" glucose meter". It is what ever meter fits your lifestyle and budget etc. They all work the same and give accurate results. At the nursing home I work at we change glucometers every year or two just because a company rep shows our director of nursing a new machine that she thinks she likes better than what we already have.

No one can really answer that because the experience varies from person to person. I'll recommend one that I think is good: the Freestyle glucose meter. I like it because you can even test on your arm and it doesn't require a large blood sample.

My daughter who attends M.I.T. is doing an internship at the place that makes "One Touch" this summer. They are working on a meter that is 10 times more accurate with a much smaller blood sample.

I use an Accu-Chek Compact.
it has the test strips inside the monitor, there is nothing to do but press a button, the monitor turns on, a test strip pops out.
you take your lancet , *****, put the drop on the strip and it
reads it. its very compact and comes with a carrying case that holds everything you need.
Excellent product.

My personal preference is Accuchek. I think they are the most accurate and easy to use. I use the Accuchek Compact. I have 3 of them...one for home, one for the car and one for work. I love 'em.

THERE IS NOT ONE THAT WILL BE BEST! SOME ARE HIGHER AND SOME ARE LOWER PRICED. IT WOULD BE GOOD TO GET ONE YOU CAN AFFORD. MY DIET/DIABETES NURSE RECOMMENDED A ULTRA TOUCH 2 OR A MINI ULTRA TOUCH 2. GO TO ONETOUCH.COM TO CHECK OUT THE PRODUCTS AND CHECK OUT THE OTHER STUFF ON THERE SITE. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
