If your diabetic, what type of diabetes do you have? And what medication do you take? how do you control your illness?

I take 44units of mixtard 30 insulin in mornings and 10 novorapid insulin at dinner time and at 10pm i take 30 units of insulatard and if i am high at that time i take novorapid aswell, seperatly.

I have type 1 diabetes. My diet consists of wholemeal bread, tuna, salads, pasta, rice, meat, fruit, vegetables and food like that i also sometimes have lentils and my levels are normally fair if i don't over do on the sugary sweets when im low.

I found that my levels everytime i go to spain are so much better then when living in england i walk a lot as you have to when your in spain on holiday (to get to places, shops, mall, etc.) also i found the hot weather helped. Everytime i ate about an hour-3hrs after i was walking somewhere so that probably helped out a lot.
I could have an ice cream
my levels were really stable rarely went over 10 mmo/l and the average lvl is highes

I see my doctor tomorrow. I asked this question once but I think that I phrased it wrong. I have been having test done on a regular basis for the last 4 months. Today the nurse told me that the a1c test shows that my average blood sugar level was 129 for the last 3 months. I have high triglyceride levels. They were in the 400's now they are in the high 500's. I have changed my eating habits. I only dropped 15 lbs but I have lost 4 pants sizes. These results are worse than the ones I took before I made changes in my diet.
I have a slightly enlarged heart but my echo was normal. Do I need to be worried?

I had a supervisor at work who was relatively cool at first. Then he decided to quit taking care of himself. He would not eat breakfast, and brag about it. He'd "forget" to take his insulin, and brag about it. He even had a few diabetic seizures. The weird thing about it was it seemed like he didn't take care of himself on purpose. It was like he wanted attention. Why would someone do that? I've known other diabetics who are amazing at taking care of themselves. Also, if this guy wasn't taking care of himself, he'd turn into a huge jerk.

I have reactive hypoglycemia (or idiopathic postbrandial syndrome or whatever this mess is that is messing up my life) and I have an appointment with an endocrinologist coming up. My question is, is this appointment going to do me any good?

I wonder if they will prescribe me something like Avandia which may help or if they will just blow me off and tell me to eat protein. I will not take that dangerous, horrible glucose tolerance test, either, and I am going to look majorly suspicious taking time off of work for a whole day for that test (I definitely can't go back that day after they load me up with sugar and I have adrenaline flowing through my veins).

So, my question is, is this doctor's appt worth it? It is a lot of hassle to get time off to go to it, so I'm starting to have second thoughts. I think this condition is not treatable at all even if diagnostic tests are done, and doctors hesitate to give Avandia, which can cause temporary weight gain and heart problems.

I know it's caused by two genes from parents. I know it's to much iron in the blood, and that a pint of blood a week maybe two is necessary to get rid of the iron. I know it causes damage to vital organs

I went to the doctor Friday because I have been having many of the symptoms of diabetes for a couple of weeks and a few others for several months. The doctor said that he thought it was most likely diabetes but then he checked my sugar level and it came back well within the normal range. I hadn't had much sugar for several days because I really had trouble at work after having a Coke. I hadn't eaten much of anything that day, and I had been essentially working out all morning at work (I work retail and spent the hours before the doctor's visit unloading a truck full of heavy merchandise). The doctor is going to do a 3hr glucose test sometime this week if nothing pops up in the blood work. Is it possible that, given the circumstances before the random check, I had managed to get the glucose level normal but that I still have diabetes or is it more likely that something else is causing the problem? There is obviously something wrong, but so far we haven't figured out what it is.
