That’s a tough question because I guess it really depends on how you define “best.” Two health plans I’ve been under were valuable to me for different reasons. Some people want a company that gives you access to whomever you wish to see; some people want a health plan that has the happiest customers; other people want the least expensive; others just want a health insurance company that pays on time. The best way is to ask the people close to you how they like their health plan.

I’ve listed links to three different takes on rating health plans. One is from Consumer Report’s. It’s a 2005 survey of how happy 35,000 people were with their health insurance. I’ve also included links to the US News & World Reports “Best Health Plans” guide, which was based on analysis from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Third, there’s a link below to Payerview, which looked at how the seven largest health insurance companies processed medical claims.

If you still have questions, you might want to talk to several locally licensed health insurance agents. One way you can do it is by visiting MostChoice.com, which is a Web site that links consumers with qualified agents in their area. You can also get price quotes and insurance policy details online. There’s not cost or obligation to you; and agents should contact you within 48 hours to talk about what kind of health plan you’re interested in. All you have to do is know what you expect out of health care coverage and let the agents do the legwork for you. If several of them mention that the same health plan is performing well with clients, then that might be a good sign.

Hope this helps,

Best health insurance is the cheapest health insurance. There are many options, but same policy may be offered for a lot less from another company. I would suggest that you shop around. Use the internet to find the best prices. Go to http://www.2insure4less.com/?s=blog and fill out an insurance quote request form.

I have had several different health insurance in the past Aetna, United Health Care, to name a couple and the best one I have was Cigna PPO my co-pays were only $10 dollars and my perscriptions were $5 for generic and like $10 dollars for regular. I could go to any doctor I pleased without any referrals and almost every physician accepted that insurance.

We have Cigna and we don't like it. The best we have ever had was Farm Bureau. With Cigna the co-pay for office visits is $15 and we have to hassle with them every time to get them to pay their part. The co-pay on medicine is either $25, $50 or $100 for a three month supply. When you need more than one prescription it really adds up. If I had a baby, they would pay the doctor's fee and nothing else. Also they pay nothing on allergy shots.
