I have been to a few different family doctors, that have all tried to help me but no matter what I do, it never gets my sugar levels to cooperate for any length of time. Can anyone reccomend a really good doctor to help me with my diabetes? Anywhere from Little Rock to Harrision or would consider anywhere in Arkansas!

i think i got the diabetes gene from my mom. thanks to a previous question, i know that it is possible to prevent diabetes, i gotta excersise, but i wanna know specificly what kids of food to avoid, and what to eat more of? i cut down a lot on soda, and i only have a little bit of sugar a day.

I'm not diabetic but my husband and mother-in-law both are (Type II). Both will routinely go all day without eating anything. This doesn't seem healthy to me, but my MIL (who is a nurse) insists that it's perfectly fine because fasting keeps the blood sugar levels low.

It would seem to me that the sudden fluctuation you're going to get when you finally eat, late in the day, would be more detrimental than just eating moderate amounts throughout the day. Am I way off base?

My friend recently went down to the doctors because his mouth was infected and blistered up and stuff, he thought he may have had an alergic reaction to food, but his doctor told him that it was a form of diabetes ? Never heard of such a thing does anyone else have that ? They said they were going to do blood work but i was just curious if its known to be diabetes and could he be a diabetic ?

Our 4 year old daughter has been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. I am a Nurse so I already had a pretty good idea that she had diabetes from her symptoms. I also know the medical side of it. What I am having trouble with is the Mom part. How do you deal with having to prick your child to test? What is the best meter you have found for your child? How do you deal with having to give them insulin injections? I have a meeting with her Pediatrician in the morning. But I need advise from parents. As a Nurse I have given hundreds of shots to children. But the though of pricking my baby and giving her Insulin injections just makes me cry. My husband just can not deal with needles at all ! How did you explain it to your child? Any advise would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Kali

My best friend's ten your old daughter has recently been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. She doesn't use rubbing alcohol on the site before the insulin injection. Their arguement is that insulin does not go directly into the bloodsteam so there is no danger. i disagree but need proof. she also sometimes reuses the same syringe. please advise of the possible damage and or long term side effects by these practices. many thanks-

I am type 2 diabetic. My level in the morning is in the 140's, in the afternoon and evening it's in the 200's. I take metaformin 500 mgs before each meal. I've been watching my diet and still can't bring my levels down. For instance today all I ate was orange juice, bagel and cream cheese, turkey lunch meat one slice with one slice of swiss cheese without bread, apple, few pieces of watermelon, and diet cola. What am I doing wrong?

I have been tested for Diabetes but the test shows I do not have it. Nor do I have a problem with my thyroid. My symptoms are:
Excessive thirst( I drink at least 2-3 gallons of water a day), excessive urination, shakey, weak, I had an episode where I was so shakey it felt like my heart racing, my hands and feet tingle at times, my mouth feels like it's dry even though I drink way too much water.
My A1C came back 5.7, red cells are fine, not my thyroid, liver and kidneys are fine, I am not pregnant( lol! yeah they did a pregnancy test too) My dr is stumped. One morning my blood sugar was 149 before breakfast and my last meal was a 4pm the day before( no snacks either)
Any ideas so I can ask my dr to check up on?
Thanks

i have been feeling very tired just lately so i checked my blood sugar level this morning before i had anything to eat and it was 8.0. i have a book that came with the machine and it says that normal range should be between 3.9 and 5.8 before breakfast for non-diabetics. i checked it again 10 mins ago and its back down to 6.4 which is within normal range. l have also been getting a lot of headaches. i dont want to bother a doctor and take up their time if theres nothing to worry about but i must admit i am confused as to why my blood sugar levels are up and down like a yo-yo. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how long do you stay in the coma and will your blood sugar stabilize by itself or do you require insulin. If you do go into a diabetic coma and no one is around to help how long will you stay that way?
