Just had my 2nd reading, and received 7.1 or 115 fasting reading. First time it was 7.0. I have absolutely no symptoms of any kind. I have quit smoking, am active, try to exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week. I feel great, rarely have any illness. I am however, at 68 yrs of age, about 10 lbs overweight and attribute some of that to quiting smoking. (2 mths aga). I'm not a med person, should I worry more about the blood sugar, or the medication.

I have type 1 (childhood and insulin dependent diabetes). I just switched to the insulin pump. My question is in the morning I have coffee with equal and cream. My blood glucose is hovering between 200-250. The rest of the day I am fine. Please give me some help regarding this. I do not want to give up coffee since I only drink 2 to 3 cups in the morning and it is one of the few foods/drinks I enjoy. All serious responses are welcome. Thank you

I came home from school and i found him in his chair sweating really bad and he wouldn't talk or even look at me but he was still breathing so i called 911. He was alone at home when i got there cause my mom works full time. it scared me so much and all i could think was "call 911 and get help". They said he would have died if i had not gotten their at the time i did. I was supposed to go to a friends house but i didn't cause i felt sick. Could i have helped him without calling the police?

also, is it hereditary? My grandmother has it, and she is telling me that I should get myself checked.

I think I have some of the symptoms, but I'm not sure. I get stomach cramps sometimes when I eat fast food/sweet things.

I have been impatient too, but have depression, so don't know if it's down to that.

I haven't gained/lost any weight and I don't feel thirsty/hungry all of the time.

The main thing is the cramps - could it be diabetes or something else? Do you have to feel thirsty all the time with diabetes?

Hi, can someone explain how the levels of insulin and glucagon are regulated in the body? And what does the renal threshold for glucose mean?

help for senior diabetics

I've posted this before with very little help..please someone.

My BF is a type 1 diabetic and takes Lantus and Humolog. He got laid of from work and lost income and insurance, i just got a new job and am basically broke paying the bills.
We cannot afford his insulin which is dangerously low. He will run out within the week.
What can we do? I heard somewhere about a program that helps people get their meds for cheaper when they are poor/on hard times/without insurance.
Any suggestions?

We live in tx btw

then how can Atkins be possible without the individual doing it having some kind of negative mental response. Just wondering because both of my parents did Atkins and seemed a little crazy.....just wondering if the diet could have been part of the problem w/their mental state at the time-- but maybe they were just crazy....
