The first time I took Metformin, my blood sugar levels went into the high 300's. Is this normal? I called the pharmacist and he said it was not working. Going to see my doctor this week. I d/c the Metformin , now anxious to see what my doctor says about this. I have been controling my DM better with diet than meds. Anyone have this experience.

Does drinking allot of water after eating sweets, like chocolates reduce the risk of Diabetes...? I mean... This is how I see it... If I drink allot of water after eating sweets, then the sugar would probably be dissolved or something? So it would just be like eating something else that had less sugar in it...

Does eating too much sugar cause you to get diabetes, considering you are still physically fit?

PLEASE NOTE: I have heard a lot of different myths, so please only answer if you have some research backing it up, if possible, site a web page or something.

Thanks.

I’m confused and need help. 1 ½ year ago I was pre-diabetic 2hr GTT was 187 mg/dl. I am not overweight. I always had high cholesterol, not from my diet. I took meds and nothing happened.
I always get severe-shakes, sugar helps. I lost my vision a lot and I have floaters. When I did my GTT I was thirsty a lot and bathroom too. But now I am more dry mouth and I don’t care :)
my glucose monitor results are never the same. Someday I will be high (in the 200’s) post-meals and somedays I will be 70-105 mg.
I did another GTT and my 2hr was 125 mg :(? I feel worst than last year. My cholesterol is high, my good cholesterol low and Triglyceride high. My blood pressure is 173/177. I read that if your Triglyceride/HDL is above 2, it can mean insulin resistance, I’m at 3.15. Anyways, with my recent GTT my GP wanted me on anti-depressant. I am seeing an endo soon :) Is it possible my glucose levels are all over and it makes it difficult on the monitor or GTT. what's wrong with me?

My mother just found out that she was pregnant. But, i am not sure how many months. She said since her doctor tested her postive and she is pregnant. She said she won't be able to can't carry the baby full term. That why, 3 years ago she find out that she was pregnant and doctor told her that she could carry it because of that she had an abortion. she is a diabetic. I thought you could carry child full term. It doesn't mean the child will have diabetes. But, may have a risk at it of 50%. I am not sure. Do anyone know a website about this information or could give me some information. Cause, I curious what the reason why she don't have a positive attitude for being pregnant. Beside, i wouldn't mind a brother or another sister. Since, she haven't had children within the last 16 years. Note: My mother has 3 children,. She was diagnosis after she had us. We all be tested and no signs of diabetes. Or, i assume about me now. Since, I haven't been to the doctor in awhile.

I have a lot of trouble with my hands shaking, especially if I skip a meal or don't eat a lot of sugar. I get light-headed sometimes and extremely fatigued. Does this sound more like low blood sugar or Diabetes? Diabetes runs in my family, but so does an essential tremor which makes your hands shake. Which one does it sound like to you? What are the treatments? How is it tested? Thanks so much! Godbless.

I have been taking Lantus for oh, about 2 years and my doctor just recently told me (after telling me I was very overweight 180 at 5'3") that Lantus could be the cause of the weight gain. He said that the main side effect shown from Lantus was weight gain, which was more prevelant than with other standard insulins.

He then suggested I look into taking Levemir because studies for it have shown actual weight loss. The reason why it promotes weight loss is kind of unknown but anyway..

I was just wondering if anyone had switched and if they lost any weight (or noticed any other differences). Thanks!

I'm looking for people who use 'adaptive clothing' who are interested in helping with a thesis project. The thesis relates to people (or caregivers of people) with limited mobility, including but not limited to: spinal cord injuries, amputees, etc...

The difficulty getting in and out of clothes sometimes makes it neccesary to use special adaptive clothing. This clothing is designed to be more utilitarian than fashionable. The thesis is centered around making a fashionable line of clothing that is accessable to everyone.

If you are interested in helping with this project, or know anyone who is, please email me. Thanks.

I know the physical symptoms of diabetes (hunger, frequent urination, fatique) and am experiencing all of them on what seems to be a much smaller scale. I think if i had diabetes i would feel much worse then i do. My brother thinks i am being a hypocondriac by my moyfirend wants me to get tested for it. I will feel stupid if i get tested for it and i dont have it, especially if the test is expensive. What should i do?
