Iron levels are usually check to monitor anemia, low hemoglobin. Iron binds with hemoglobin. Hemoglobin transports oxygen around the body and the oxygen is absorbed at the cellular level,(to each cell) which feeds the cells and allows each cell in your body to function properly, Normal range for blood iron levels for men are 65-175 micrograms per deciliter(mcg/dl) and for women it is 50-170 mcg/dl. If you iron is low you can find iron sources in your diet. foods high in iron are organ meats, such as liver, eggs, fish and DARK leafy green veges such as spinach, or greens, but Not iceberg lettuce. your doctor may also prescibe iron supplements, 2 main side effects are constipation and black stools, Good luck
