Can I have coffee before going for blood work?

Not according to my lab, Quest diagnostics.

It was ok that I did, but it had to be black. This was for Cholesterol. I'm not sure about the aff on other blood tests.

nope. fastings the key. not a drop, not a Cert, not a stick of gum.

Yes, just don't add sugar or milk. Have it black.
