how thirsty is thirsty? before i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes i could drink two 20 ounce bottles of pop or water in 10 minutes. i would still feel super thirsty after i got done.

do u go to the bathroom a lot?do u go 4 or 5 times during the night? or how bout every 15-30 minutes during some days? thats what happened to me before i was diagnosed

i also lost a ton of weight (40-50lbs) within 2 months before i was diagnosed and it wasnt on purpose. have u lost weight?

do u feel tired a lot? do u feel like u never get enough sleep even though u slept 10-12 hours the night before? i did before i was diagnosed

is your vision blurry? mine was before i was diagnosed

if u have alot of those symptoms that i just said then maybe u should get tested for diabetes

FYI u do not have to be overweight to get type 1. being overweight increases the chances of getting type 2 which is usually found in adults. my dad's dad(my grandpa) had type 1. my dad doesnt though. i was diagnosed at 15

There's a good chance that you may or may not develop diabetes. Being overweight is not generally a characteristic of Type I diabetes (which used to be referred to as Juvenille Diabetes). Obesity can cause a person to develop Type II diabetes later in life, but that's mostly people > 40 years old.

thirst alone isn't exactly a symptom of diabetes. if you are afraid that you have diabetes, ask your parents to take you to the doctor and have a blood test done. that will be the only sure way to know if you have it or not. good luck
