Diabetic is not likely, but he could be hypoglycemic.

Please get him thoroughly checked up and find out exactly what is his problem and let the Doctor treat him accordingly, it is better to take a patient to a Doctor than asking people here on Yahoo "what to do", secondly if you are sure that his Sugar level falls and takes him into fits then he must be given some Sugar Candies or anything Sweet immediately but the symptoms you are telling could be of EPILEPSY too, the best way is to take him to a good Clinic and get him diagnosed and treated, please dont waste any more time and dont mind my advice. If you are in Karachi take him to Aga Khan, in Lahore to Sh Zayed Hospital and if in Islamabad / RWP take him to PIMS and in Pesh to Lady Reading Hospital.

From your description it seems that the child might be having insulin secreting pancreatic tumor that is INSULINOMA or some para neoplastic syndrome which lowers the blood glucose far less than normal resulting in hypoglycemic fits. So get the child investigated in some good specialty hospital for better results

my question would be - what is he eating -

need to get a book - the Glycemic Revolution, I believe

some carbs go up like rockets - rice, bread, potatoes, and sugar - candy *and come down like elevators -

better to have low carbs - that go up slowly - peanut butter
feel full for a while - and then ease down

I would look to a food cure before a prescriptioned medicine
BUT I am not an MD nor a dietician -

that's my advice - get theirs

There are sugar tablets that my wife has used to help increase her sugar levels quickly. THey don't taste like candy, so he won't want them all the time. They are a citrus flavor and do not cost a lot. You can find them at you local Wal-Mart or drug store.

Try giving him some honey, it always worked for my family when their sugar level dropped.

Maybe carry juice boxes or granola bars next time.
