then how can Atkins be possible without the individual doing it having some kind of negative mental response. Just wondering because both of my parents did Atkins and seemed a little crazy.....just wondering if the diet could have been part of the problem w/their mental state at the time-- but maybe they were just crazy....

Ketosis. Your liver converts fat into a fuel for your body when there are not enough carbohydrates being taken in. Restrictive diets can take a toll on people's mood, but Atkins doesn't make people crazy.

The necessary carbohydrates to fuel brain and all other activity can be obtained by demolition of proteins. The process is not very efficient, which is probably why the Atkins diet works as well as it does. But it is difficult to stay on it.

thats silly, most people get way more carbs than anyone needs, atkins restricts it but it doesnt rule them out all together.

Your parents are naturally nuts.Your body will convert protein to brain food if it needs to.For example.Eskimos ate only protein and fat.No carbs.
