after my trip to new york, i started having some eye problems. my eyes constantly feel irritated and when i rub them it becomes bloodshot. they are red most of the time and sometimes watery. i tried washing them with water repeatedly and also used eye drops. nothing helps. i think it may be because of the pollution and dust in newyork that i am unaccustomed to. any ideas on what to do? i cant go see a doctor over the weekend and i need some other ideas that may help. thanks!

Aside from the obvious which is to just avoid altogether there are some times where it is beyond our control and we come into contact of this or any other allergen. Benaydryl, skin cream, albuterol are a few things I take to decrease the intensity of the anaphylactic shock however does anyone know of any other treatment/common household remedies to make this life more livable? Something I can purchase?

Okay, I have had a couple swollen glands, dizziness, a little nausea, fatigue, stuffy nose at certain times of the day, eyes swelling, scratchy throat off and on, and just generally not feeling well.

Doc said its allegies?? I dont know if I should get a second opinion or not. I was looking for advice on what i should try taking that would be effective until I go get all my tests done for allergies in a couple weeks. I am currently taking claiton, and I am not sure if I notice a difference or not.

Any advice?? Has anyone had the symptoms I describe?? Most worrisome for me are the sollen glands, and dizziness.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I was recently diagnosed with mono and my dr. gave me amoxicllin. 9 days after taking it I broke out in the most severe rash I have ever seen in my life. I have it from the bottom of my neck all the way down to the tops of my feet. It itches like crazy. I am currently taking steriods and benadryl, but both seem to be doing nothing. Has anyone ever had this problem or known someone that this has happened to? If you have any help please let me know! Thank you!

Please, only answers from people who go through this or from someone medically qualified to answer. And I prefer some medication that is not too harsh, like Allegra! I'm looking for something that won't whack me out.

As I sit here eating my Kung Pao chicken and noticing all the peanuts, it just made me wonder. It seems like there are so many people with deadly allergies to nuts or shellfish, and less-deadly but still troublesome allergies to dairy products. If we really do have more food allergies, why ???

I currently have three cats and a cat allergy and I have been using over the counter one a day antihistamines for about a year on and off when needed. I am sick of going through the sneezing and the watery eyes and the itching, so I am thinking of taking them on a more regular basis. What damage could that do to me if I were to take one a day over several years?

NB: Do not suggest that I get rid of the cats, that is not an option – they are family

…and for you smarty pants out there – I did not know I was allergic to cats until I got them – makes sense doesn’t it!

Any suggestions of alternative treatments would be helpful too.

I work in a busy Dr. office and I went on this weekend while we were closed and was diagnosed by the dr. i work for with a very bad case of strep throat. However she still expected me to show up, and gave me a perscription that is very expensive even with insurance that wasn't even somthing you treat strep throat with. I called in the next day and to my suprise she was not happy. How do I handle this?

My 2 year old gets hives when she comes in contact with milk. I'm running out of breastmilk and she won't drink soy milk either. What kind of liquid can we give her aside from juice so she will have enough calcium and vitamin D?

My skin allergy test showed no allergies to pet dander or anything like that (just to pollen). Yet sometimes when I'm near my dog I get asthmatic type symptoms. I've decided it can be 1 of 3 things:

1.) A coincidence that i get the symptoms (cause I get them at other times too).

2.) I am allergic to my dog and the test was wrong.

3.) The dog is bringing in pollen or something from outside (but he's an inside dog..)

Any insight? Thanks.
