yes a trip to the doctors because it sounds like strep throat. If you want to get a little relief, just take a hot shower and keep the door closed allowing all the steam to stay in, this will break up anything you have in your throat. But i would personally get it checked out if you are having a hard time swallowing.

Schedule a doctor's appointment and gargle with Hydrogen Peroxide. It sounds weird, but it actually works to reduce the bacteria in the throat. The taste, while not good is not unpleasant or bitter. DO NOT swallow it, though. I do not think it's harmful, but it cannot be healthy to consume it.

We've used this remedy since I was a child and doctor $$$ was scarce. It really helps.

See the doctor, though, as soon as you can. You may have strep.

Consult a doctor first. I am suffering thru the same thing right now. I think in my case it is sinuses(post-nasal drip). Drink some hot tea or eat ice cubes. Either extreme might make your throat feel better. And as hard as it sounds--practice vocal rest. Get plenty of liquids in your system. Hope you feel better. It could be a summer cold, too. Exiting a pool with a wet head and going into air-conditioned buildings. Sweating even and entering a cold azz building. You can get a head cold. Take care.

Gargle (spelling?) with warm salt water always seems to help relieve my sore throats, but when it's so bad I can't swallow, a doctor will surely have a better cure!

a doctor, it could be strep throat (i don't know if that's how you spell it). But I had it, and if it gets too bad, your throat can close up and you won't be able to swallow, and it doesn't get better unless you get a shot or antibiotics. And if you don't swallow, you starve

If it's due to an allergy, try a prescription nose spray called Flonase (Fluticasone Propionate)
