I'm allergic to some fruits (such as pears, kiwis, bananas, citric fruits, mangoes, strawberries, etc.) but I heard applying lemons to your face helps reduce acne and oil-free? I've tested by applying a small area of fresh lemon juice to the back of my hand and it felt a little stingy. Is it because I'm allergic or is that normal (I mean...lemon juice is a little acidic...)? Thanks! ^-^

i am allergic to metal. it is a MAJOR drawback in my life. i can't wear jewelry unless it is plastic, no jeans with buttons, can't wash dishes at a stainless steel sink, can't sit on furniture that has any metal showing that my skin might touch. etc etc etc. Does anyone else have this? Does anyone know of a cure? Any suggestions on how to live easier?
my BF just bought me a gorgeous necklace. i love it..but the heart is metal. i have tried covering it with clear nail polish but didn't work. i WANT to wear this, any ideas how?
Any suggestions/ knowledge/ experiences/ advice on how to deal with being allergic to metal in general and/or what to do so i can wear the necklace will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I am CONSTANTLY clearing my throat & it's very aggravating!! It's been pretty bad for about 3 years now. I've gone to see an ENT (Ear, Nose, & Throat) MD. They said it looked like allergic rhinitis but when they tested me to see what I was allergic to, everything turned out negative. Plus my nose stays stopped up all the time & I have to do most of my breathing through my mouth. I've tried claritin, allegra, tylenol sinus, all kinds of nasal sprays, and zyrtec (which is expensive, even with my insurance) and nothing really seems to help much. HELP!!

I have eaten watermelon my whole life. Now it is so bad that it is swelling my tounge and thoat up. Yes I quit eating it because I know allergic reactions escalate. I was just wondering if this was due to chemicals/fertalizers/GM.
Is anyone else experiencing anything like this????

The other day my docotor recommended that i have a skin allergy test done. However, I'm worried that they'll find something that will give me a serious reaction. For those of you who have had one, did they mention how likely this was (since its only tested on the skin and not injected) and what kind of allergens did they test for (average, wisespread with families, and/or rare allergies?). I'd also like to know how much they charged. Thanks :D

In the last 1 1/2 months, I have been dealing with a runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes- seems like 24/7. I hear bee pollen works well. I am a lifelong allergy/asthma sufferer who has probably taken almost every drug out on the market today (otc and prescription), not to mention allergy shots too. Prior to the start of the summer, I was fine. Actually, the only thing I was taking was Advair. I haven't had allergy shots for 2 years; it seemed like I was doing well without them. I think that I have built up an immunity to many drugs, such as Benadryl. Any suggestions to a new route I might take? I am also reconsidering going back to allergy shots.

I recently was stung by a bee and had a systemic reaction that landed me in the ER. Problem is I am a farmer and beekeeper. Even if I never touch the bee hives again I still am exposed to lots while picking...

I'm seeing a allergist next week. I definatly want immunotherapy, but I am hoping I can have a Rush course, as I see many bees every day, and am a little anxious. Has anyone done this? How common is Rush or ultra-rush therapy as opposed to traditional immunotherapy? Should my insurance cover it? Are their any doctors in Ohio who do it?

Thanks...

When I was younger, my mouth & tongue burned slightly if I ate raw pineapple or drank the juice, but I never knew that wasn't supposed to happen so it didn't seem "wrong". By the time I began college, I realized it WAS wrong.

Not only would my mouth & tongue burn and get sore (but NOT swell, fortunately), but I'd also have a severe stomach ache for about 2 hours, stomach/intestinal cramps, sometimes nausea, sometimes a little headache, and an overall feeling of "sick." (Maybe the runs too!)

If I eat cooked pineapple (i.e. Chinese sweet & sour pork, or pineapple upside-down cake), I don't get sick, interestingly enough.

I suspect the allergen is bromelain, a pineapple-specific enzyme, so maybe this gets destroyed during cooking? I know pineapple is high in salicylates, but that's not a problem for me, since I eat many other fruits high in that, with no probs. I also take aspirin with no probs.

Anyhoo, if you have ANY pineapple sensitivities/allergies, please share them! :)
