I am CONSTANTLY clearing my throat & it's very aggravating!! It's been pretty bad for about 3 years now. I've gone to see an ENT (Ear, Nose, & Throat) MD. They said it looked like allergic rhinitis but when they tested me to see what I was allergic to, everything turned out negative. Plus my nose stays stopped up all the time & I have to do most of my breathing through my mouth. I've tried claritin, allegra, tylenol sinus, all kinds of nasal sprays, and zyrtec (which is expensive, even with my insurance) and nothing really seems to help much. HELP!!

You may have a pesistent bacterial infection. Perhaps a mycoplasmal or chlamydial endoparasitic infestion. They are hard to isolate and also to treat. Google Dr. Gabe Mirkin for his website. He is well informed on your kind of problem, & he gets results. The treatment may require long term antibiotic therapy that must not be stopped until the end of the treatment term.
Good luck.

The best to get rid off of a post-nasal drip is to treat the cause of it.
May come from the nose, sinuses. Could be mistaken for GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) if coughing is happening when lying on the back, having burning sensation in chest and a bad taste in the mouth.
Many disorders of the nose and sinuses cause post-nasal drip. Not only allergy. You must continue to consult a doctor and the ENT is the most appropriate specialist to deal with your condition. If you're not satisfied with your doctor, go see another.
No diagnosis will and could be made via Internet

Amy, is that you?? Damn, you sound just like my best friend...LOL
For her and the problem that you share......she needs to get rid of some cats. Process of elimination, I would suggest. Staying on drugs the rest of your life.......nah, shouldn't be an option. Seek and find the culprit.
For your throat and post nasal drip. Sounds crazy, but drink grape juice. A thick grape juice like Welches.

I would have to say it's something you're eating or breathing on a regular basis, I'd see if it was possible to change living areas, but first I'd try changing my diet to a very healthy one of fruits vegetables , lean meats like tuna, turkey, and lean chicken. I'd start drinking green tea, and lots of water. And lastly Exercising regularly. If none of that worked, I'd focus on switching areas.

Are you sure it's all from the sinuses? Maybe you have a gum problem that you aren't aware of. Check with your Dr.... Good Luck.
