Please, only answers from people who go through this or from someone medically qualified to answer. And I prefer some medication that is not too harsh, like Allegra! I'm looking for something that won't whack me out.

It all depends on how mild/severe your symptoms are to the mold. I would say start with bleach and kill as much mold as you can. Depending on your signs/symptoms if you are having just nasal congestion try Flonase, Nasonex, or Nasoqort. If you have congestion in the chest, sinus cavities, sneeze, runny nose...try Zyrtec or Allegra. You can also try Claritin, Alivert, or good old Benadryl (all OTC meds). If you having itchy watery eyes...Patinol works wonders.

Either way see an allergist to have testing done to see how severe your allergies are...sometimes you need to have multiple meds to combat the allergies just to function till you can start shot therapy.

Hope this helps from someone who is just about allergic to everything.

Zyrtec is a very good allergy medication. It lasts 24 hours and while some people do experience some slight drowsiness with it, you can take it at bedtime and by morning there are no side effects.

My suggestion would be to see an allergist. The Dr. will work with you to not only find out exactly what else (if anything) you are allergic to but will work out a treatment program.

I have been going to my allergist for two years now and I have never felt better!!!! I am on medications that don't knock me out plus I am building up my resistance with weekly allergy shots.

Good Luck!!!!

I've got some allergy problems. My doc told me that Claritin was a great OTC drug but also perscribed Zyrtec, which she said was a stronger type of Claritin.

Neither of these meds made me drowsy.
